Our story

About the Owner

I'm Scott Laughlin, owner of SKS Aquatic & Land Management. I'm a husband, a father to three young girls, and I've worked in the construction industry my entire life.

After earning my degree in Building Construction from the University of West Florida, I went to work for a general contractor, focusing primarily on Department of Defense projects throughout the Southeast. When I started a family, I began grinding stumps on the side to earn extra income.

That side work gradually grew into something more. I built the business one job and one piece of equipment at a time. Eventually, I purchased a weed-removal boat and began working for myself full time, starting with pond management, excavation, and land clearing. When a customer asked me to build a dock on his pond, it opened the door to marine construction. I earned my Marine Contractor's license, and docks, seawalls, and boathouses soon became a major part of what we do.

I'm still involved in the day-to-day work. I meet with customers, manage projects, and work alongside our team in the field. Some days are spent handling estimates and emails; other days, I'm picking up a shovel and jumping in to help.

I grew up around the water and have always enjoyed building things. Getting to do both for a living, alongside a team that takes pride in the work and enjoys working together, is something I truly appreciate. When you hire SKS, you'll know who you're working with.
